International Program Development for Universities
The Paideia Institute offers logistical planning and support for study abroad trips and programs for universities. Institute staff have advanced degrees in Classics and related fields, and the Institute has a decade of experience teaching university students abroad. As experienced university educators ourselves, we understand the nuances of educational travel better than other providers. We have planned January- and May-term programs, as well as Spring Break tours for universities, and can also help develop semester programs.
Itinerary and Curriculum
We give our partner professors full control over the curriculum and itinerary, allowing them the freedom to shape the program to match their vision and to delve into the academic details of sites. Our trained staff are also happy to advise and suggest less-traveled sites to help students expand their encounter with the Ancient world. If requested, we can also provide a graduate student in Classics or related fields to serve as logistical and teaching assistant during the program.
Logistical Preparation
Paideia Classical Tours can arrange as many of the logistical details as necessary, including flights, lodging, ground transportation, site entries, curricular materials, group meal reservations, as well as roster creation and collection of payments from participants. We are also happy to work with your institution’s study abroad office to ensure all arrangements meet their standards.

"It is difficult to express briefly the excellence of the Paideia Institute. After our three week trip throughout Greece, I would choose Paideia for any academic study abroad trip/program on offer. There is no more committed group of scholars, and no group in the field more enthusiastic about study in the mediterranean world. Attention to detail was beyond expectation: everything from trip coordination, hotels, logistics (even surprise dinning arrangements) were tailored precisely to — and often beyond — our requests, and a willingness to be flexible kept everything moving and interesting each and every day. When we conceived of our study abroad in Greece, we asked for a full, if not intense, itinerary. We thought maybe it was too tall an order, but Paideia achieved our vision and more. Knowledge of local traditions and a real love of Greece insured we were always welcomed everywhere we visited (from busy Athens to remote villages). We studied everything from ancient Greek art, architecture, and history to Byzantine chants, learning along the way some modern Greek phrases as well as traditional dance, and we even practiced selecting fresh fish in local tavernas. And all of this at a cost that our students could afford. Paideia clearly has a genuine care about the field of Classical and Humanistic studies: their teaching assistants have a genius for bringing the Classics alive and connecting with students and faculty alike. Every day was excellent, and this was the result of their hard work, before and each day during the trip. This made for a most memorable experience: We now have a part of Greece in us — all 31 of us. The trip was κτῆμά τε ἐς αἰεὶ (a thing to have always)."
