How to Apply
The application process for all scholarships is the same: applicants should fill out our online scholarship application form linked at the bottom of this page, and will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. Please submit the scholarship application by the application deadline of the program for which you are applying. Note that a scholarship application does not replace a program application. To be considered for a scholarship, please complete both the application form and the scholarship request form.
A letter of support from a teacher or colleague will be accepted, but is not required. Scholarships are awarded for academic merit and financial need. Please have these emailed to [email protected] by the above deadline.

Reginald Foster Scholarship Fund
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Paideia Institute is able to offer numerous scholarships to its programs from the Reginald Foster Scholarship Fund.
Institutional Member Scholarship
Separate scholarship funds are reserved for students and teachers at Paideia’s member high schools and universities. If your school is not yet an institutional member of the Paideia Institute, consider asking your administration or department head to join our institutional membership program.
The Amy High Scholarship
Given in honor of Amy High, a Latin teacher and former student of Reginald Foster, this award provides a full scholarship to the five-week Living Latin in Rome program. Preference is given for participants pursuing a career as a high school Latin teacher. Learn more about the scholarship here.
The Robert Germany Scholarship
The Paideia Institute is pleased to announce a scholarship dedicated to the memory of Robert Germany. Robert was Associate Professor of Classics at Haverford College, and touched many lives inside and outside the Classics world. Learn more about this scholarship here.
Classical Tours Incentive Program
The Paideia Institute is committed to supporting the continuing education and enrichment of Latin and Greek teachers who take their students to Italy and Greece with Paideia Classical Tours. Through the Classical Tours incentive program, teachers can earn full scholarships for themselves or their students to participate in Padieia's independent summer programs and in a number of programs and conferences offered by our partner organizations.

External Scholarships
A number of national and regional classics organizations offer scholarships for students to pursue summer study in Rome and Greece. The following scholarships might be used to support participation in a Paideia Institute program.
The New York Classical Club Rome/Athens Summer Scholarship provides scholarships of up to $3,000 towards the cost of a Paideia Institute Summer Program. All members of the New York Classical Club with one year of paid membership are eligible to apply.
The Eta Sigma Phi Bernice L. Fox Latin Teacher Training Scholarship provides awards of $750 to support a summer activity for teachers at the pre-collegiate level. Applicants must hold valid Eta Sigma Phi membership by the application deadline, have received a Bachelor's degree within the last ten years, and not currently hold a doctoral degree.
The Classical Association of the Middle Weset and South Benario Award provides up to $3,000 for a summer travel program. Applicants must be members of CAMWS and either hold a teaching position in Greek or Latin at an elementary or secondary school within the CAMWS territory or a position in a degree-granting Classics graduate program within the CAMWS territory.
The David D. and Rosemary H. Coffin Fellowship, offered by the Society for Classical Studies provides funding to secondary school teachers so that they can travel abroad. Funding can be used as partial support for many different summer programs. This year's deadline for applications is February 27.
The Ascanius: The Youth Classics Institute Professional Development Grant provides awards of up to $1,000 to support elementary and middle school teachers with the costs of registration/tuition, travel, room, and board, for programs, conferences, or courses. Applicants must be teachers or teachers-in-training. They may either be teachers who primarily teach Latin and/or Classics, or they may be other teachers (e.g., general education or gifted) seeking to increase their knowledge of Latin and/or Classics in order to incorporate these areas into their students' instruction. The students who will benefit from the teacher's professional development should be elementary and/or middle school students.
